Whiting Forest is 40 acres and 2 miles of trails right in the City of Midland –it’s located just ¼ mile north of the main Dow Gardens on Eastman Avenue. Make time to enjoy seven different types of forest, a spacious Visitor Center, hiking trails, covered bridges, and ponds.

Observation Tower
Climb to the top of the 21-foot observation tower and enjoy the forest from a whole new perspective.
The Whiting Forest Visitor Center is Buzzing!
A glass-sided observation hive with a clear entrance tube to the outside is located in the visitor center. Watch as the bees draw out honeycomb to make more bees (a brood). The bees are working hard, foraging for pollen and nectar to expand their hive. You can catch a glimpse of the queen bee and read all about bees on nearby educational posters.
Tour Whiting Forest with a Guide
Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 3:30 p.m.
We can't promise you Smokey the Bear as a guide but we can dedicate one of our staff members to your group for 45 minutes. Gather a group of eight together and call 837-8299 one week before you would like a guided tour. Tour Guides are provided at an additional charge of $2.00 per person with a maximum of $20.00 per group.

Room Rentals
Whiting forest has facilities for your meeting, get together, or party. We can comfortably accomodate up to 80 people. We offer a full catering kitchen, tables and chairs, and audio/video equipment. Please call 989-837-8299 for details.
